WordPress speed optimisation before and after page load times

Why Website Speed Matters

Better search rankings

Google uses loading speed as a ranking signal. When two sites are otherwise similar, the faster one has the advantage.

Fewer visitors leaving

Most people will not wait for a slow page. Cutting your load time keeps visitors on the site long enough to become customers.

Cheaper Google Ads

Google scores your landing page when you run ads. Faster pages score higher, and a higher quality score means you pay less for the same clicks.

More enquiries

A fast, responsive site feels professional and builds trust. That makes it easier for a visitor to pick up the phone or fill in your form.

Lower hosting costs

An optimised site uses fewer server resources, so you get more out of the hosting you already pay for.

Why Is My WordPress Site Slow?

The free speed review tells you which of these apply to your site, and what fixing them is worth.

Core Web Vitals scores for LCP, INP and CLS in Google Search Console

What Are Core Web Vitals?

Core Web Vitals are the three performance measurements Google uses to judge how your website feels to a real visitor. You can see your scores in Google Search Console, and we check them as part of every speed review.

Before and after WordPress speed test results

Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)

How long until the main content appears. Google wants this under 2.5 seconds.

Before and after WordPress speed test results

Interaction to Next Paint (INP)

How quickly your page responds when someone taps or clicks. Google wants this under 200 milliseconds.

Before and after WordPress speed test results

Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)

How much the page jumps around while it loads. Google wants this at 0.1 or lower.

Google scores these using data from real visitors rather than a one off test, so a good result in a testing tool does not always mean you are passing. Our optimisation work targets all three, and we show you the Search Console data before and after.

2. Confirm and book in

You approve the package and we invoice. No surprises, no hourly bill to watch.

3. Optimisation

We take a full backup and carry out the work carefully.

4. Before and after report

We run the same tests again and send you the results side by side.

5. Free six month check

Six months later we re-run the tests at no charge.

WooCommerce Speed Optimisation

WooCommerce stores need extra care. Cart and checkout pages cannot be cached the same way as ordinary pages, product images and filters add load that a brochure site never has, and a slow checkout costs you sales directly rather than just rankings.

We test the full purchase path after every change, from product page to cart to checkout, which is why stores are quoted individually rather than sold at a fixed price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast should my WordPress site load?

Aim for your main content to appear in under 2.5 seconds, which is Google’s Core Web Vitals threshold. We aim for under three seconds overall on a typical small business site, and often get under two. We tell you what is realistic for your site during the free review, before you commit.

Why is my WordPress site so slow?

The usual causes are cheap or overseas hosting, large uncompressed images, too many plugins, a heavy page builder theme, and no caching. The free speed review identifies which of these apply to your site.

Why does the Overhaul start at $599 instead of being one price?

The Tune-Up covers a defined set of tasks that apply to almost any site. The Overhaul goes deeper, and how much work that involves depends on your site’s size and condition. We confirm the price in writing after the free review, and it does not change unless you ask for more.

I run a WooCommerce store. Do the same prices apply?

The Speed Tune-Up applies to stores as well. The Performance Overhaul is quoted individually, because cart and checkout need testing at every stage and caching has to be set up carefully so it does not interfere with the purchase process. Send us your store address and we will give you a fixed price after the free review.

What if my site needs more than the package covers?

We tell you before we start. You can stay within the package, or approve extra hours at $60 per hour plus GST. Nothing extra is ever billed without your approval.

What if something breaks?

We take a full backup before we start. Any change that carries real risk gets raised with you first, and we test the site after every stage.

Will I have to give up my page builder?

No. Elementor, Divi and similar builders can be made to perform well. We clean up the settings, remove what is not being used, and optimise how the builder loads its assets rather than asking you to rebuild your site.

Will speeding up my website improve my Google ranking?

Speed is one of many ranking signals, so it is not a guarantee on its own. It works best alongside good content and a properly optimised site, which is what our [SEO services] cover. What speed reliably improves is the number of visitors who stay and enquire.

Do you need access to my site?

Yes, we need WordPress administrator access and usually hosting or cPanel access as well. We can walk you through creating the logins.

Will I need to change hosting?

Not always. If your current host is the main problem we will say so and explain the options. We also offer [Australian website hosting and care plans] if you would like us to handle it.

Do you outsource the work?

No. All work is done by our developers in our St Leonards office in Sydney, so your website and data stay in Australia.

Is this a one off or ongoing?

Speed optimisation is a one off project. To keep your site fast and secure long term, our [website care plans] cover ongoing updates, monitoring and maintenance.

My site is not built on WordPress. Can you still help?

Get in touch and we will take a look. Some of these fixes apply to any website, but our fixed price packages are built around WordPress, so we would quote your site separately.
